What would Raul Jimenez add to Everton?

  • Everton have been linked with Mexican striker Raul Jimenez.
  • Currently plays for Fulham and has featured in 34 league games this season.
  • Jimenez’s contract is set to expire at the end of this current campaign.

Everton have been rumoured with a move for Raul Jimenez, whose contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

The Mexican international has played in the Premier League since 2018, where he scored 13 league goals in his debut campaign.

Jimenez suffered a horrendous head injury in 2020 but has since returned to full-time action and become a key man up top for Fulham.

At 35 years old, he is now in the twilight of his career, yet he has shown his ability to compete in one of the best leagues in the world.

Raul Jimenez would be an intelligent addition

Everton already have two strikers in Beto and Thierno Barry, who have competed all season to stake a claim to the starting striker spot.

So adding a third striker in Jimenez would crowd an already competitive slot.

However, if a European campaign is on the cards for the 2026-27 season, then a third first-team striker would be a needed addition.

The Mexican scored 12 goals in the league last season and has followed that up by finding the back of the net nine times this campaign.

He may not have many years left in his playing career, but Jimenez still has the capabilities to be a Premier League-level forward.

Raul Jimenez has shown good character

Jimenez’s awful head injury halted his development, and it came off the back of a season where he registered 27 goals in all competitions.

Once he returned to playing, the forward struggled to hit the heights of his early Premier League years, yet he has seemed to have found his feet again at Fulham.

After such a serious injury, it would be tough to get back to your best level.

His confidence would have been knocked, yet the Mexican was back to first-team action in the following campaign, and featured 34 times in Wolves’ 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

This sort of mentality is desirable for any football club, and it is a testament to Jimenez’s character.

The potential addition of Jimenez would be to increase depth up top for Everton, but his courage since returning from a nasty head injury, and his intelligence in the box could make him a valuable option.
