Hill Dickinson Stadium set for Magic Weekend debut

Hill Dickinson Stadium is preparing to welcome one of rugby league’s biggest occasions this week, as Super League’s Magic Weekend makes its first appearance at the home of Everton.

Magic Weekend takes place on 4 and 5 July, with Super League’s traditional move to a single venue for an entire round of fixtures.

Saturday’s card features Huddersfield Giants against York Knights, the Hull derby between Hull KR and Hull FC, and Warrington Wolves against Leigh Leopards, while Sunday brings Wakefield Trinity versus Castleford Tigers, league leaders Leeds Rhinos against Bradford Bulls, and the Wigan-St Helens derby to close the weekend.

It follows the success of November’s Ashes Test, the first major non-football event staged at the stadium, which drew a sell-out crowd of 52,106. Magic Weekend 2026 has already broken its own pre-sale record, with more than 25,000 tickets sold before general sale opened.

Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear said the club were proud to host the event so soon after the Ashes Test, calling it proof of what the stadium and the city region can deliver, and pointed to the venue’s facilities and waterfront Plaza as ideal for a large-scale fan experience.

Two major non-football events inside a year is a strong early sign for Hill Dickinson Stadium’s standing on the national sporting calendar, well beyond matchdays.
