Allardyce denies any contact with Everton

Sam Allardyce has spoken out saying that there have been no talks with him and Everton over a contract to take the Goodison Park hot seat.

The former England boss was co-hosting talkSPORT’s Thursday sports breakfast show and was speaking about the Everton situation.

There were rumours that Allardyce turned down a contract keeping him there just to the end of the season, but he squashed these rumours saying (via talkSPORT):

I wouldn’t be sat here if Everton were talking about a contract with me.

According to the 63-year-old, he has had no contact with Everton “in any way shape or form.”

Allardyce has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace in the summer and has previously spoken about international football being his preferred field, after being linked with the Scotland and US Soccer vacancies.

The 63-year-old certainly would be a good candidate for the Merseyside club, with him doing similar jobs in the situation Everton are in with Crystal Palace, West Ham and Sunderland.

Allardyce did, however, give Everton advice saying that they should put their ambitions to fight for Europe on hold while they focus on this season and getting out of their current situation, saying

The present day is the most important at this moment in time, but it’s got a bright future and it’s about how they plan for that bright future.

So Allardyce is still out of work and Everton are still without a manager, with David Unsworth still in command. The Toffees may contact the former England man, but as he says, there has been no contact at all yet.
