Cascarino backs Everton to move for Jimenez or Ings

Former Celtic and Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has backed Everton to swoop for Raul Jimenez or Danny Ings in January.

Cascarino says that Everton should look to sign one of them to bolster their options at the top end of the pitch, with Jimenez and Ings both hitting the goal trail for Wolves and Southampton respectively this season.

As quoted by The Daily Star, he said this:

I mentioned Raul Jimenez for Everton.

Again, I’ve been saying this for a while, I’d be so tempted to snatch another one away.

I’d be trying to get Danny Ings out of Southampton. Sorry Southampton fans.

Given that Jimenez is Wolves’ top goalscorer and they are currently in the top-half of the Premier League and in the knock-out stage of the Europa League, it would take some doing to lure him away from the club. That may be a deal that Everton would have to wait until next summer to do, as could also be the case with Ings.

The English forward has scored 11 Premier League goals for Southampton and is helping them to avoid relegation down to the Championship. Ings is a Southampton fan, one of the reasons for him making the move from Liverpool, which may also be a factor in him wanting to stay until the end of the campaign – if he did reject a January transfer to Everton.
