Noel Whelan convinced £36m-rated Brazilian could transform current Everton midfielder

Everton could be set for a more than interesting summer transfer window.

The Blues have been happy to splash the cash in recent years and it doesn’t look like they are slowing down.

A recent rumour that has kicked up has caused a real stir between the Everton faithful.

Former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a move to the Toffees this summer.

Not only that, but former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes he could help transform one player in particular.

According to Whelan, whilst speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Coutinho could really help Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The belief is that if Coutinho were to join the Blues, it could revelutionise Sigurdsson’s role in midfield.

The likelihood behind this is that the Icelandic midfielder would grow into a deeper role in the middle of the park.

This is obviously due to Coutinho plying his trade as an attacking midfielder much like Sigurdsson.

“He’s got the experience and discipline to play there. He has done exceptionally well, you can see the change in him since Ancelotti’s come in”.

It is easy to see Whelan’s point of view here, with Sigurdsson handling life under Ancelotti really well.

A deal for Coutinho has reportedly already been agreed in the range of £35million as reported by The Metro.

If this is true, then it may look as though Everton have secured another great deal for next season.

The last few seasons have seen some amazing additions such as Ben Godfrey and James Rodriguez.

If Coutinho were to join as well, then who nows how high Everton can reach.
