  • David Moyes has managed over 1000 matches in professional football.
  • Has guided the Toffees to potential European qualification.
  • If Blues win at Selhurst Park on Sunday, Moyes could join elite level of managers.

David Moyes has made his European ambitions clear as Everton are still in the hunt for a return to the continental stage for the first time since 2017.

The Toffees are currently on a four-match winless streak and have stumbled at such a crucial point in the season.

After conceding three successive stoppage-time goals, the Blues are facing the challenge of a visit to Crystal Palace, where they must claim all three points to keep their goal alive.

If Everton do claim victory at Selhurst Park, they will stay in the hunt for Europe, and Moyes could join an elite level of managers.

Moyes seeks seventh win at Selhurst Park

Moyes has won six of his eight away matches against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

If the Toffees grab their much-needed three points in South London, then the Scotsman will join Pep Guardiola as the second manager to win seven Premier League matches at Selhurst Park, with only Jurgen Klopp holding more victories, according to the BBC.

Everton’s most recent encounter with Palace saw late drama, as Jack Grealish was fortunate to catch a clearance that bundled into the opposing net, and with it, grab one of the Blues’ best wins of the season.

Oliver Glasner’s side have just qualified for their first European final in history, after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa Conference League, which offers the chance for Moyes’ men to make the most of their fresh legs.

It is now or never for Everton

Everton came into this season with the hope of having a stable league campaign at Hill Dickinson Stadium and ensuring they did not slip into another relegation battle.

That objective has been achieved, but Evertonians are demanding more from their side, as the opportunity of returning to Europe is genuine.

If not for lapses in concentration in stoppage time and the severely reduced depth in January, the Blues would likely be in a much more favourable league position.

But they have been handed one last chance to claim a European spot, with Moyes’ men sitting just four points behind sixth place.

Regardless of where Everton finishes in the Premier League, this campaign has been their best since 2021, but they must be ruthless and disciplined in their final three matches if they are to make it an even better season.
