Everton 0-1 Southampton – Player Ratings

We’re fully back into Martinez’ ways of being immune to defeat.

But they all still sting, don’t they?

We started off terribly, as per usual, and Charlie Austin scored in the opening seconds of the game. Nothing much else happened for the rest of the game besides Southampton mulling over whether they wanted to slaughter us or not.

They chose to sit back and enjoy themselves, which is totally warranted, we were never going to threaten them, were we, that’s not our style.

Stekelenburg made a few good saves throughout, and couldn’t really do much about the first goal. That’s the way his season has gone, looking back now, maybe I’m a bit harsh on him, sometimes.

Jagielka was an embarrassment again, and the rest of the team followed suit. Barkley has been steadily improving again each week, but it’s all for nothing if the rest of the team can’t follow suit.

We’ll be slowly falling down the table in the next few weeks, looking at our fixtures. I can’t see us winning any of them at all, but let’s wait and see.

Anyway, that’s the future. Here’s the past.
