It’s hard to have any sort of meaningful gripes that go beyond ‘Please, just please, sort these corners’.
It’s beyond a little observation we all make on the way home now, it’s a full blown crisis. Every single goal we’ve conceded this season has been from a set piece besides one. It isn’t a case of individual players not doing their jobs, instead, it’s a fundamental flaw in the system. I’m not going straight after the system of zonal marking, because I’m not Marco Silva and as much as I like to masquerade as someone who actually knows something, I don’t know what is going on in the week at Finch Farm, and what led him to the decision to pursue zonal marking.
But what I do know is that it is the only reason we aren’t top of the table with 4 wins from 4.
Today was the first real disheartening performance of Marco Silva’s premiership, and I hope it’s the last for a while. But credit has to be given to Huddersfield, who did their job well.
Everyone knows Huddersfield don’t have anywhere near the quality to go man-for-man at Goodison Park, and David Wagner’s tactics help compensate for this massively.
