Everton 1-1 Swansea City: Five things we learned

Seamus Coleman snatched a point against Swansea as Everton fail to win yet again.

The Merseysiders had the bulk of the chances early on, Romelu Lukaku unable to bundle the ball into the net from Yannick Bolasie’s awkward cross.

Lukaku then turned provider for Bolasie, putting the forward through on goal but he couldn’t beat Łukasz Fabiański.

The Swans took the lead through Gylfi Sigurðsson as Toffees captain Phil Jagielka fouled the Iceland international in the area, the forward getting to his feet and converting the penalty past Maarten Stekelenburg who had already saved two spot kicks this season.

The Blues pushed for an equaliser but it took until the 85th minute before the team felt any urgency and they got a response from the fans. It was then, that Seamus Coleman took the only chance on the stroke of the 90th minute. The Irishman was left free in the middle of the box as the ball came down and expertly found the top corner.

Everton remain 7th in the table but it certainly wasn’t a performance to be positive over. Here are the five things we learned this afternoon.

matchday.
