Everton interested in deal to sign Ake

Everton are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake this month.

According to Sky Sports, Everton like the defender, but are behind Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea in the queue to land his signature.

The report claims that Everton are keen to sign a centre-back to bolster their squad before the end of the transfer window.

Whilst the report states that three clubs, who all play in the Champions League, are ahead of Everton at the moment, things can change very quickly in football. You never know what is going to happen, so there is still a chance that Everton could nab their man. Would he be a good signing, though?

Ake has recorded a WhoScored rating of 6.74 for Bournemouth this season, which ranks higher than both Michael Keane and Mason Holgate for Everton, although just behind Yerry Mina. Last season, however, he managed 6.86, which would be the highest in Everton’s squad in terms of centre-back’s. This suggests that he would be an improvement to Everton’s team and starting XI, possibly coming in alongside Mina in the defence.

However, there is nothing to suggest that Everton will sign him this window, given the interest from Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea. This could be one that develops at the transfer window progresses, or he could end up staying at Bournemouth.
