Everton join Premier League rivals in hunt for €40m-rated forward

Everton are one of several Premier League sides who are keen to sign Moussa Marega, with West Ham, Chelsea and Tottenham also interested in the Porto striker.

According to reports, the 27-year-old has openly admitted that he wants to secure a move to the Premier League and the Mali international seemingly won’t be short of options when it comes to deciding which club to join.

Marega scored 23 goals in 40 appearances for Porto last season, helping them win the Primeira Liga title but speaking last month, he told reporters how he wants to make a move to England, despite the success he’s had with the Portuguese side.

He said:

For me, I think it’s the best time to try my luck elsewhere, to try something new, get to know a new league. The Premier League for example. It pains me to say this, because I’m very attached to this club, to its fans who give me a lot. I’ve liked [the Premier League] for a long time. Then again, who doesn’t? It’s a great league, with great players. It’s flattering when clubs are interested in you, but I’ve always dreamed of playing there. I want to be happy, with my family, in a league I love.

Porto are understandably in no rush to let Marega leave so any team who wants him will have to meet the reported €40m release clause that’s in his contract.
