Everton nearing closer to historic stadium move with new update

Everton are moving closer to securing a historic deal that would take them away from Goodison Park and into a new stadium on the banks of the Mersey.

The club are looking to move from Goodison in which would be possibly the biggest move forward in the clubs recent history.

Though loved my many, the stadium has become the biggest element that is holding the club back from achieving a much higher revenue to compete with the top six.

Talks of a move to Liverpool’s waterfront is now hotting up, with Lindsey Ashworth, development director at Liverpool Waters for Peel telling the Liverpool Echo:

We’re optimistic we will agree heads of terms to allow a state-of-the-art football stadium at the northern end of the Liverpool Waters.

“We’re pushing forward with it, the council are helping, and I think we’ll get to a conclusion. A good one. Hopefully in the near future

Lindsey also suggested that a possible commonwealth bid could go in conjunction with the stadium.

With rumours rife of a move to the docks and Evertonians cautious following past failed stadium moves, there is a sense that the deal is moving ever close to becoming a reality.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson has also thrown fuel on the fire on social media, hinting regularly that Everton fans will finally see themselves sat in a new state-of-the-art stadium in the near future.
