Everton player ratings v Hull: Dewsbury-Hall impresses but Toffees leak two goals

Everton drew 2-2 with Hull City at the MKM Stadium after losing a second-half lead. Here are our ratings from the game.

Everton player ratings

Jordan Pickford – 6
Had little chance with either goal and was not called upon too often otherwise.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 5
Set up Dewsbury-Hall with a good cross but had a difficult afternoon defensively. Hull found space on his side and he was replaced late on.

James Tarkowski – 7
Everton’s best defender. Won his share in the air and was generally reliable when Hull put the ball into the box.

Michael Keane – 6
Did most of his work without fuss and was rarely caught out individually.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 5
Used at left-back and produced an excellent low cross which Barry should have scored from. Had a harder time defensively and was beaten during the move for Hull’s second.

Harrison Armstrong – 7
Busy in midfield and comfortable on the ball. Gave Everton energy before making way late on.

James Garner – 6
Saw plenty of possession and kept things simple, although he had less impact as Hull grew into the game.

Brennan Johnson – 6
Had a first-half goal ruled out after a VAR review. Did not threaten often enough after that and was eventually replaced.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 8
Everton’s best player. Headed in the equaliser before playing Barry through for the second goal.

Jack Grealish – 6
Frequently involved on the left but struggled to turn that possession into clear chances.

Thierno Barry – 7
Should have scored from Branthwaite’s cross but responded with a good finish when Dewsbury-Hall sent him through.

Substitutes

Tyrique George – 6
Came on for Johnson and tried to make things happen without finding a decisive moment.

Jake O’Brien – 6
Introduced late as Moyes changed his defence.

Hayden Hackney – 6
Given the closing stages in place of Armstrong as Everton looked for a winner.
