Everton will attempt to solve Muhamed Basic’s hamstring woes in Dubai, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The 23-year-old Bosnian picked up his third hamstring injury of the season against Swansea City in January and hasn’t featured for the Blues since.
Besic, who was named Everton’s Player of the Month for January, gave the Everton midfield some much-needed aggression and vigour during the busy New Year period and was named man-of-the-match in the Capital One Cup semi-final win over Manchester City.
But this is the third time Besic has suffered a hamstring injury this season, he first picked up the knock in pre-season and suffered a recurrence of the injury against Chelsea in September.
The fiery former Ferencvaros man suffered a grade one tear in the loss against the Swans and is looking to be fit for the game against Aston Villa.
Roberto Martinez is looking to use this mid-season break to his sides advantage:
“It is a period that is going to set us up for the final third of the season in the league.
“But there are also individuals who we will be able to treat 24 hours a day. “There are certain players who need a lot of work, certain players who are coming back from injury, especially Mo Besic who needs this period more than anyone.
“Also Oumar Niasse, in terms of integrating his work into his own pre-season because that’s where he is.”
“Then there are certain players who need to shut down and regenerate because they have been playing a lot of games of late but this period is vital, from a psychological point of view, to get them ready for the final third of the competition,”
This season has not been short of disappointment for the Merseysiders, but with Europe not out of the question and an F.A Cup quarter-final on the horizon the Blues could yet look back on this campaign as a success.
