Everton seeking investment from Chinese consortium

Everton are seeking a multi-million pound investment from a Chinese consortium to ensure that they are not restricted by their move to a new stadium, the Mirror reports.

The report says that Farhad Moshiri is concerned that Everton could suffer the same fate as Arsenal, and feel the negative impacts of a reduced transfer budget as they aim to break into the top four.

Moshiri hopes that if he can get the consortium to fund the Toffees’ new stadium, with the promise of naming rights, he will be able to continue funding lucrative transfers to help Everton’s Champions League charge.

Everton currently sit sixth in the Premier League, and will be hoping to qualify for the Europa League this year.

Arsenal, in seventh, have three games in hand over the Merseysiders and are only a point behind, but with Manchester United’s League Cup victory it means that the team who finish seventh will receive a Europa League place.
