Everton has been in impressive form lately, continuing to target European spots, just two points behind the sixth spot.
Everton made it two wins in four days on Tuesday night, dispatching Burnley 2-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium to strengthen their push for European qualification. James Tarkowski’s first-half header against his former club set the tone before a second-half strike sealed the victory and extended the Toffees’ unbeaten home run against the Clarets to five matches.
The win was Everton’s first on home soil in 2026 and ended a four-game winless run at Hill Dickinson Stadium. More importantly, it kept David Moyes’ side eighth in the table, just two points off sixth-placed Chelsea with nine games remaining.
Dewsbury-Hall eyes England recognition
One player has been at the heart of Everton’s resurgence. The midfielder scored his sixth Premier League goal of the season against Burnley, a composed finish after being slipped through by Iliman Ndiaye. No Everton player has more goals this term.
Speaking after the match, the 27-year-old revealed his form has reached new heights. “I feel like I’m getting into a nice rhythm. I am confident, I am feeling the best I have ever felt physically and football-wise,” he said.
That form has led to conversations about international recognition. With the England squad always competitive in midfield areas, the Everton man knows he needs to maintain his level to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s thinking.
“Getting into the England squad is a dream of mine. I know the competition is stacked, but I am having a really good season – it is probably the best season I have ever had in the Premier League,” he admitted.
Numbers behind his best season
The Englishman has been in hot form. Drewsbury-Hall has been clinical this season, as he has scored six goals in 22 appearances this season. He has also provided three assists and created eight big chances, while averaging 1.2 key passes per game. He has been one of Moyes’ best players this campaign.
His all-around game has impressed too. He wins 54% of his duels, completes 84% of his passes, and averages 4.0 ball recoveries per game. For a player often deployed in advanced areas, that work rate is invaluable to Moyes’ system.
The midfielder was clear about his priorities. “My main focus is getting into Europe with this team. If we do that, it gives me a better chance internationally.”
Everton’s European push is very much alive. With nine games remaining and momentum building after back-to-back wins, the Blues are eyeing an achievable European spot. For Dewsbury-Hall himself, the dream of an England call-up no longer feels like a distant fantasy.
