Everton to battle Leeds in the race for Brighton’s Solly March

Everton and Leeds United have both expressed an interest in Brighton midfielder Solly March, according to an exclusive report by 90Min.

The two clubs have also been joined by Newcastle United in the pursuit of the 26-year-old star.

The midfielder, who can play on either wing or at full-back, for the Seagulls only made 19 Premier League appearances last season and has become an increasingly less used member of Graham Potter’s squad in recent times.

It is believed a fee of £15million would be required to prize the versatile winger away from the Amex, which is perhaps a bit too expensive given his lack of match action.

Perhaps judging a player like March on goal involvements is unfair as his hard work and industry could make him a valuable member of a manager’s squad. Reliable and versatile, March could be a benefit to any of the clubs linked with his signature.

With March going into the final two years of his contract, it is believed the South Coast club are keen to tie him down to a new deal, although the player, who has been with the club for nine years, may depart in search of more first-team action.

All three clubs chasing March have their own reasons for wanting a player of his type ahead of 2020/21 and Carlo Ancelotti may be looking for more from his wingers as he begins his first summer transfer window as Blues’ boss.

After a less than impressive second half of the season from Bernard and Alex Iwobi the former England Under-21 international may be the perfect anecdote.
