Marcel Brands, Everton’s Director of Football, has said that it could be difficult to sell any players this summer due to the club’s high wage bill, as per The Daily Mail.
With Marco Silva coming into the job with a huge squad of 38 players, Brands has said that the Toffees must sell before they can spend.
Brands recently replaced Steve Walsh who was relieved of his £1m per year job after the recruitment which saw Everton spend £239m over the course of last season was deemed a disaster.

Many Everton players have seen their value go down while on huge contracts at Goodison Park, but Brands is keen to let go of some players in order to get Silva as much money as possible for transfers this summer.
Brands said (via The Daily Mail):
Hopefully I will succeed to offload the right players
And, of course, they are good players so I hope there will be interest for a few of our players.
There will be meetings with the players and with the agents, yes. We need to offload players to raise money (to spend).
