Everton to upgrade Finch Farm

Everton are looking to build accommodation at Finch Farm, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Blues want to have a sleeping area built at the training complex in Halewood in time for next season.

The construction will be the first part of a major revamp planned for Finch Farm, with a new indoor training pitch and an extension to the medical facilities also on the agenda.

Roberto Martinez first discussed the introduction of sleeping quarters at Finch Farm two years ago and is happy that work is finally set to commence:

We have had some delays but that is all done now and the plans have been very, very good and it is something we need at the training ground,

We will make sure that gets done before the start of next season, or at least be on the way.

Finch Farm needs to be a place that becomes like a home for the younger players and for the senior players they need to have the opportunity of resting here and having eight hours sleep.

Especially when we have been in Europe and arrive back really, really late, it will be a really important facility to have.

To have the bedrooms and extra area for our medical work at Finch Farm is important and it is always behind our thinking.

That group, the ones between 19-22, they sometimes need four sessions a day and sometimes you need to have your own resting area to make the training effective.

So it will help the developing players but it is also designed to help the preparation of the senior players.

For me, it is a must in modern day football.”

Real Madrid’s training complex, La Residencia, has suites for all of Zinedine Zidane’s players and is believed to be behind the thinking of the Everton boss, who believes rest between training sessions and long trips is a huge factor in the condition of the players.

Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri’s arrival seems to have put the developing plans into motion, the new major shareholder is keen to help boost the Toffeemen in a variety of areas.

Moshiri will be hoping his new purchase will develop some home form on Saturday, as Everton host in-form West Ham United.
