Everton v Chelsea – My Eleven

We’ve had some historic nights and games against this lot. This easily hate-able lot. This embodiment of modern football, lot. This world-class lot.

As detestable as Chelsea may appear to be sometimes, and that’s not subjective, they’re really good at football and we’re not good against those who are good at football. So these, basically, we’re probably not going to be good against these.

That comes with an enormous asterisk though, as we’ve always coped well with Chelsea (See last season, granted, not at their best) and at the end of the day, Denis Stracqualursi netted against them. They’re not that hard.

No discredit to that fine man, of course.

But Everton at the moment – to actually focus on our lads for a change – are comprehensible, undeniably, quite thoroughly 7th place. Chelsea are 1st place and looking value for money up there.

Tottenham are close behind though, and they’re significantly less irritating.

So who knows.

But don’t do it for them, do it so we can say we’ve had some memories this season after two exits from the cup and stability, but with no substantial gains. We’ll take something from this season if we win this.
