Everton v Manchester United – Alex’s XI

At the time that I’m writing this, Marco Silva has just finished his press conference. I only mention that because I will be mostly writing about the things he said to fill out these 250 words. Everything from his attitude to the stadium proposals to André Gomes’ and the young fan on the bus were inspiring and most certainly reassuring. Mr Silva, like all of us, values a player’s attitude and work-ethic very highly. It’s always been the case at Goodison that if a player gives 110% week-in week-out, then they will be appreciated, if not loved, whenever they play (For any team) at home. That’s why players like Oumar Niasse, Steven Naismith, Denis Stracqualursi, Enner Valencia (At least, to me), and most of all, Tim Cahill, are all so widely adored even now.

André Gomes, Bernard, Lucas Digne, Kurt Zouma, Yerry Mina and Richarlison have all seemed to have bought into everything that the club has to offer, both on and off the pitch, and are all handling themselves spectacularly, which, along with their impact on the pitch, will go a long way to being loved by the fans. We have seen this recently with the disability workshops that Everton and how much our players buy into this wholeheartedly, with Captain Séamus Coleman leading by example.

While we have a crucial game coming up on Sunday, it is very important not to forget that we, as a club, also have other duties that must be upheld, regardless of how big we get, and it’s fantastic to see that even our players who arrive from the heights of Football from Barcelona are also willing to embrace everything that our club has to offer to the community.
