Now the International break is over, the focus is back on the Premier League and next up for Everton is a trip to The Stadium of Light to face Sunderland in the Monday Night Football slot.
The game will see Everton come up against former manager David Moyes for only the third time since he departed Everton after an eleven year stay. The last time the Toffees came up against Moyes the game ended in a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park whilst the Scotsman was in charge of Manchester United. This ended up being Moyes’ last game in charge at United, as he was sacked two days later.
The game will also see The Blues potentially come up against two former players, with Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe both joining Moyes at Sunderland in the summer transfer window.
Everton will be going into this game with bags of confidence as they are yet to taste defeat in Ronald Koeman’s first season in charge, taking seven points from their first three games as well as advancing in the EFL Cup. Their opponents Sunderland, on the other hand, are yet to win so far in the league this season. Although they do come into this game on the back of decent away performance at Southampton, earning themselves a point with a 1-1 draw on the South Coast.
Nonetheless, I take a look back at The Toffees last four meetings with Monday’s opponents.
