On a mild night at Goodison, Everton entertained League Two Yeovil as Ronald Koeman looked to kick off his first Cup game as Everton manager with a win.
A lethargic first half saw Everton take the lead through an Aaron Lennon tap-in, and it was 45 minutes of dominance for the Blues as Yeovil struggled to keep up with the tempo of the game, and looked largely out of their depth for the majority of the game.
The second half saw an upturn in excitement, as Bolasie lit-up the night sky at Goodison and a rare cameo from Everton’s lost hero Arouna Koné saw the Ivorian net a brace of superbly taken goals as the League Two side collapsed under the relenting pressure of Ronald Koeman’s Everton.
So, let’s take a look at a few takeaway points from the game leading into the visit of Stoke City at the weekend.
