I hate derbies.
The Liverpool biased build up, some ridiculous storyline that is fabricated to accommodate an otherwise dull fixture, the ever-present dread of what will happen during, and after, the game, and all the rest.
Just hate them.
Form never matters with them, it’s always just who turns up on the day. And that’s usually Liverpool.
We haven’t won a derby since Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta scored to sink them 2-0. Since then it’s just been appalling.
Luckily, this isn’t the Anfield Derby. That fixture is nightmare-inducing.
Liverpool are coming into the game in hot form. They play Football well and score a load of goals most of the time. Us, however, if you look at the last 2 months, have been absolutely abysmal. No fight, no desire, no ability. We should have no hope going into this one.
However, if you look at the last result, against Arsenal, we saw the Everton that we had all been wanting for so long. Players were willing to go above and beyond on Tuesday night, and we got our reward, a win against Arsenal, a team that hadn’t lost since August. And we fully, fully deserved it.
The worst thing was, is that the result gave us hope. We’re expecting the same going into the Derby now, and you should now by now, hope, with Everton, is virulent.
With a fixture, you need a set of 11 players. Here’s mine.
