We are two weeks away from the new Premier League season, with expectations at Goodison Park in the hands of ambitious manager Marco Silva and now, also, Marcel Brands.
To say last season was a hard watch would be an understatement and lets face it we have all dwelled on last year too much. Its time to put up or shut up from the board after a low par season and if I am being honest, ludicrous recruitment.
Marco comes to Goodison Park under a certain spotlight on him after his exploits at Watford, which saw him out of a job within the first half of the season. Watford fans would probably mention how we (Everton) played a part in the downfall of their season when we came steaming in for Silva to replace Ronald Koeman. The less said about Koeman’s actual replacement the better.
He has won titles in Greece and was very highly thought of in Portugal and also came from a whisker away from keeping a seemingly doomed Hull City from relegation.
What has impressed me about Silva is his willingness for attack as well as trying to keep it tight at the back. With Everton, he has a job on his hands to stabilise the ageing defence along with scoring the goals.
At the time of writing, Richarlison has been Marco’s only addition (a very welcome one might I add) with the intention of bringing in three more players and shipping six more out.

Big things have been discussed by people as to who will follow Rooney Robles and Funes Mori out the door (me included).
What Silva will bring is a fresh approach that the last two managers failed. Oumar Niasse is obviously a fan of Silva from his time at Hull, if he gets him going again with 10 plus goals we are really in business. Kevin Mirallas, this writers one time favoured Everton player, seems to have pulled his socks up and is determined to be part of the new Silva Revolution.
Bottom line at the moment is, the current squad if treated correctly can be a threat to most teams. The defence could ,and more than likely will, be a worry which is obviously what is being addressed at the time of writing.
It’s not all doom and gloom, and with Silva at the helm there is an optimism that we can get it right this season…
COYB!!
