After spending the past two summers as Southampton’s manager, Ronald Koeman will begin this one as Everton’s as he put pen to paper on a deal that sees him fill the role left by Roberto Martinez’s departure.
The Dutchman began his tenure in Southampton with a number of signings, of which, most went on to become important parts in his side.
With a spend of over £66million which saw the likes of Dusan Tadic, Graziano Pelle and Saido Mane arrive at St Mary’s, Koeman did recuperate over £90million with the big money sales of Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren.
In his first season, Koeman led his side, fuelled with new signings, to a seventh place finish – an improvement on Mauricio Pochettino’s final season as his side finished eight the previous year.
As Koeman once again saw some of his star players leave Southampton for big fees, he was able to use that money to bring in his own players.
With Toby Alderweireld’s loan expiring, Virgil van Dijk was brought in for a fee of £13million as his side aimed for another defensively solid season.
His side went on to finish sixth, just three places outside the Champions league spots, which saw Southampton, once again, improve on their previous season.
Money now isn’t an issue at Goodison Park with Farhad Moshiri’s investment, with a reported transfer budget of £100million+, it’ll be interesting to see who Everton target over the summer.
Here’s four players Koeman could bring in from Southampton:
