Ex-Everton defender labels current £27m star as ‘world-class’

The Toffees currently have a fantastic crop of talent in the squad.

Since Carlo Ancelotti has came into the club, Everton have really stepped up with their results.

Recent signings have also shown that Everton are becoming a destination to be desired.

One of the biggest names to join the club since Ancelotti joined is James Rodriguez.

The Colombian playmaker joined from Real Madrid on a free transfer and has shone in the Premier League this season.

This was a great bit of business given his current £27million market value according to Transfermarkt.

From just 22 league appearances, Rodriguez has 6 goals and 5 assists and has been an important part of Ancelotti’s XI.

So much so, that even former Everton defender Michael Ball has labelled Rodriguez as ‘world-class’.

In an exclusive interview with This Is Futbol, Ball stated how important he is to Everton.

“He just finds pockets of space to hurt any opposition if you give him that time and that space.”

It is always great to hear former players’ opinions on the current crop of Blues.

Not only that, but it has also been amazing to see how well James has taken to life at Everton.

We have enjoyed seeing him back to some of his best football after his time at Real Madrid came to an end.

A lack of game time no doubt stunted his confidence but since joining the Blues, he has only improved.

Having played at right-wing for most of the season, we haven’t even seen James played in his favoured position.

If the club manage to make the right signing at right-wing, then we could start to see James flourish even more.
