Tarkowski makes ‘incredible’ Tyler Dibling claim after Everton breakthrough

James Tarkowski has backed Tyler Dibling to build on his recent progress at Everton, describing the youngster’s talent as “incredible”.

Dibling has begun to show more of his ability in recent appearances after taking some time to settle following his £35m summer move from Southampton. His assist against Wolves in the Carabao Cup was an important moment, and Everton’s captain says what supporters are beginning to see on matchdays has been evident in training for some time.

Tarkowski backs Dibling to keep improving

Speaking in comments shared by Everton on X, Tarkowski said: “We see in training all the time how good he is. Doing it in games is the hardest part.

“But the past couple of games he’s showing what he can really do. Hopefully, he can build from that.”

Everton accompanied Tarkowski’s comments with another emphatic assessment from the centre-back: “His talent is incredible.”

The 18-year-old arrived with considerable expectations after establishing himself in Southampton’s first team, but David Moyes has been prepared to give him time rather than demand an immediate impact.

That patience has begun to pay off. Dibling supplied his first Everton assist for Charly Alcaraz’s late winner against Wolves and has looked increasingly comfortable when given opportunities since. Tarkowski also offered an insight into how Dibling is being helped away from the pitch.

“He’s got a good couple of mates who build him up,” he said. “I just try to give him a word here and there to help him out.”

Everton didn’t spend £35m on Dibling expecting the finished article at 18. Recent performances suggest he is starting to find his feet, and Tarkowski clearly has few doubts about the talent available to Moyes.
