Juventus are monitoring Djibril Sidibe’s situation with Everton

Italian giants Juventus are monitoring Djibril Sidibe’s situation at Everton, according to CalcioMercato.

The 27-year old defender was signed by the Blues on a season-long loan last summer from Monaco, with Everton said to possess the option to make Sidibe’s stay at Goodison Park permanent at the end of the current season.

With that permanent option said to be set at around £12.9million, Sidibe could represent a fairly cheap long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman, who the Frenchman has pushed out of the starting line-up on Merseyside.

Football Insider reported earlier this month that Everton had decided that they did want to take up their permanent option in Sidibe’s contract, with the full-back having been a regular player in the side this season, playing 18 times in the Premier League.

However, that deal will still need Sidibe’s sign-off if it is to go ahead, and Juventus’ interest may now complicate matters.

CalcioMercato claim that with Danilo having fallen out of favour for the Bianconeri, Juventus are eyeing right-back targets in the summer, and they’ve taken a liking to Sidibe.

Should Everton fail to agree a deal with Sidibe this summer, CalcioMercato claim that Maurizio Sarri’s side could swoop for the World Cup winner.

Simply put through, Everton must ensure that this doesn’t happen.

Sidibe has shown that he is a strong offensive full-back who adds depth and quality to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, having assisted four times in the Premier League.

The Frenchman has been inconsistent at times, although in a season where few of Everton’s stars have impressed, he has stood out as one of the better performers.

Should Sidibe show signs that he would be open to a permanent Goodison Park switch, Everton should move fast to tie the defender down to a long-term contract before Juve can make a move.
