Romelu Lukaku insists he should now be winning league titles at this stage of his career, casting major doubts whether he will remain with the Toffees next season.
Lukaku, 22, scored 20 goals in all competitions for Roberto Martinez’s side last campaign, attracting attention from the likes Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg in the process.
The Belgian joined Everton permanently from Chelsea last summer for £28 million following a successful loan spell in 2013/14.
However, the former Chelsea striker told Sport Voetbal: “I want to win titles, not just be shadowing at the top.
“I want to know how it feels to play in the big games. I’m 22. Its time to win trophies.”
Lukaku also revealed he had to tell Martinez that he would be “hopeless” if played as a winger.
The Belgian was sometimes deployed on the wing as Martinez attempted to improve the Toffee’s league campaign.
“I am a striker. At one point I went to the coach and I said to him ‘With all due respect, as winger I’m hopeless. I will only score goals if you put me up front’.
“The coach is the boss, but when something is going wrong, I’ll simply say it.”
