Everton forward Romelu Lukaku has said that he would have no issues playing under former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho again.
Lukaku was sold to Everton by Mourinho, and the pairs relationship seemed to be frosty at best since the former Anderlecht hitman left Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Belgian publication La Derniere Heure, Lukaku had this to say on the subject of his former boss:
Some people will say that I need to convince him but it’s not a question of that. Three years ago I was 20 and I wasn’t ready to be immediately effective in a top team.
Several good seasons, including the current one, have changed the situation. I’ll be 23 [in May] and I could leave this summer.
Lukaku also shed some light as to why his father recently discussed him moving to a club such as Manchester United or German giants Bayern Munich.
I understand why he said that. When I was little, two teams that impressed me by their offensive force. Then there are teams like that.
We’ll see what will happen. Anyway, it is always nice to be linked with such clubs, this is proof that they watch me, the rest is the business of my manager.
After Lukaku’s unhappy spell with Chelsea, he denied that he has anything to prove to them saying that ‘the page is turned on both sides’.
But the striker did confirm that he wants to play in the Champions League, a competition that Chelsea, Everton and perhaps Manchester United won’t be competing in next season.
The 22-year-old has scored 25 goals this season, and Farhad Moshiri will do his best to keep one of his prized assets at Goodison Park for one more year.
