Romelu Lukaku reached 50 Premier League goals on Saturday following a comfortable 4-0 win over Aston Villa.
Since then he has spoken of his pride to reach the milestone and has vowed to improve.
But it is more impressive than you may think. He’s joined an elite group of just five players to have scored 50 Premier League goals before the age of 23.
He joins Robbie Fowler, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen on the list – all of which are considered to be Premier League legends.
After signing in July 2014 for a hefty fee of £28million, many questioned as to whether the Toffees had overpaid for such a young player. But it turns out the signing could end up a steal in the long run.
After 125 top flight appearances and 50 goals, Lukaku has vowed to improve in the future.
He told the Liverpool Echo:
You look at what they have delivered in their careers and you have two players who have won the Ballon d’Or,

You have Rooney, who could have won it several times in his career because of how he has performed, and you have Fowler, who has been one of the best goalscorers in the game.
But Lukaku won’t stop here, he hopes to continue his run of form and become a Premier League great.
To be on that list is a blessing. I am happy to be on the list, but I have to go higher. I cannot stand still — I never stand still.
I perform, enjoy it for a day and then there is the next game. You have to move forward. It is a maturity process for me to keep on evolving as a player and to be there for my team.
It feels good, though. As a kid, I was always working hard to try to get in the history books and to be in the history books now is very pleasing. I just want to keep going and perform like I have for the last few weeks.
Lukaku (9) currently sits second, only behind Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy (13), in goals scored this season and with the form he’s in he has a real chance of ending top of the list by the end of the season.
He’ll hope to continue his current form (four goals in three games) next Saturday when Everton take a trip to relegation threatened Bournemouth.
