What a night, eh?
After the Blues encountered a slight hurdle in Moyes’ gritty system in the First Half, Ronald Koeman showed once again just why he is so well thought of. After dragging James McCarthy off against West Brom last month after a shocking display, he changed his system entirely and it showed in the second half.
Again, a similar occurrence tonight as Ross Barkley was unceremoniously removed from the field after a wasteful first-half, and on came Gerard Deulofeu who played in a slightly deeper role, accompanying the magic Yannick Bolasie on the opposing wing.
We then saw a free-flowing front 4 of Mirallas, Bolasie, Deulofeu and Lukaku who tore Sunderland to shreds. There was no stopping these lads, who must feel blessed to be playing alongside each other in what is a truly exciting time for Everton.
Anyway, let’s have a look at some takeaway points on a euphoric night for Koeman’s Blues…
