Premier League boss emerges as surprise candidate for Everton job

Everton are reportedly eyeing Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe as a possible candidate as they search for Sam Allardyce’s successor, according to the Daily Express.

Allardyce was sacked this morning by owner Farhad Moshiri, after guiding the Toffees to an eighth-placed finish during his six months in charge.

In a club statement, Everton said:

We have made the decision that, as part of our longer-term plan, we will be appointing a new manager this summer and will be commencing this process immediately.

Howe has gained a lot of admirers in the English game after se the job he has done with Bournemouth, keeping the Cherries in the Premier League and playing attacking football.

Former Watford boss Marco Silva is currently the favourite to take over at Goodison Park, however, the BBC say that Howe could also take the Everton job if offered to him.

With the news this morning that Watford are willing to take legal action against Everton for an ‘unwarranted approach’ for their ex-manager, appointing Howe could be seen as less problematic for the Toffees board.
