Pundits lament Everton display as Seamus Coleman suffers ‘disaster’

It was a night to forget for Everton as Merseyside rivals Liverpool came to Goodison Park and ran riot.

The Toffees eventually succumbed to their local adversaries 4-1 as the lacklustre Blues fell well short of the mark.

Under pressure manager, Rafa Benitez came in for further criticism after the loss but punditry duo Ally McCoist and Leon Osman were directing the blame elsewhere.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Video, captain Seamus Coleman came in for criticism from McCoist.

It’s a disaster for Seamus Coleman. I’m actually watching him, he wants to play it first time over the top high but he’s uncomfortable, he doesn’t get it. He takes a touch and Salah’s in quick as a flash as you’d expect, you cannot mess about when he’s in town. It’s Coleman’s fault and Coleman’s problem but Gray’s got to give him a better ball to deal with, it’s an awkward height for him.

Meanwhile, ex-Blue Osman admitted it was difficult to stay in the ground after a blistering opening 20 minutes from the Reds.

I thought about it myself (leaving). It was such a dominant first 20 minutes from Liverpool, it really was. They showed what a top-class team they are. It was worrying.

Everton will now turn their attentions to a clash with Arsenal on Monday night (December 6).

Simply a night to forget for those of a Blue persuasion.

Barring a mini 15 minute period in the first half, Everton were falling short in every department throughout the night.

Whilst Coleman didn’t necessarily cover himself in glory, given the poor display across the board, it’s nigh on pointless to single out individuals or moments.
