Sigurdsson deal down to Everton board says Koeman

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said that the deal to bring Gylfi Sigurdsson to the club is now down to the club’s board.

Wales Online has reported that Everton have already had two bids rejected for the Icelandic midfielder but are prepared to raise their offer to the asking price of £50 million.

Michael Steele/Getty Images SportThe 27-year-old arguably was the reason Swansea remained in the Premier League last season with nine goals and 13 assists throughout the last campaign.

Despite all the transfer rumours surrounding him, Sigurdsson has continued to train with Swansea as they prepare for next season. Originally he was withdrawn from their tour of the United States due to the 27-year-old not being in the ‘right mindset.’

Koeman has confirmed the club’s interest in the Iceland international but has to wait and see whether the Everton board are prepared to finish the deal considering the huge price tag.

The whole business what is difficult is the amount of fee, money you have to pay for players. Okay, it is all about business and the final decision is by the board of the club because they make the final decisions – what I did is to give them the final picture about positions, about what we need to improve and choose options.

Everton have already spent over £100 million this summer after the loss of star striker Romelu Lukaku and will continue in their attempts to bring in Sigurdsson before the end of the transfer window.
