Tommy Fleetwood beats David Moyes to Friedkin meeting

David Moyes hasn’t always found it easy to get an audience with Everton owner Dan Friedkin. Perhaps he should try the golf course.

Evertonian Tommy Fleetwood has been pictured alongside Dan and Ryan Friedkin during practice for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, providing a rather good opportunity for some gentle fun at the manager’s expense.

Fleetwood gets his Friedkin audience

The photograph was shared by The Toffee Blues, showing Fleetwood with the Everton owners ahead of the tournament in Scotland.

Nothing particularly remarkable there. Fleetwood is one of the world’s leading golfers, a well-known Everton supporter and a regular at the Dunhill Links.

It does become slightly more amusing when placed alongside Moyes’ comments about his contact with Dan Friedkin. Asked about the owner last month, the Everton manager revealed that they hadn’t spoken directly for some time.

Fleetwood, apparently, has cracked the code. The answer wasn’t waiting by the phone at Finch Farm; it involved heading north with a set of clubs.

There is obviously nothing significant to read into a photograph taken during a golf tournament, but it has given Everton supporters an entertaining image during the international break.

And should Moyes need a quick word with the Friedkins before the Premier League resumes, he now knows who to ask for an introduction.
