Vlasic unsettled under Unsworth

Nikola Vlasic has spoken openly about life at Everton, and how tough it is for him under caretaker manager David Unsworth.

The Croatian has not played 90 minutes under Unsworth. The last time he played a full match was the 5-2 loss to Arsenal which ultimately saw Ronald Koeman leave Goodison Park.

Vlasic played 20 minutes in the 3-0 loss in Lyon, but other than that he wasn’t in the squad for the league defeat at Leicester, the EFL Cup defeat to Chelsea or the 3-2 comeback win over Watford.

During the international break, Vlasic did get nine minutes under his belt in Croatia’s 4-1 first leg World Cup Qualifiers play-off win against Greece.

The 20-year-old, as quoted by 24Sata, said (via Sport Witness):

No, I haven’t talked to the new coach about why I don’t play, so it is in professionalism: you do not play – you do not play, you’re on the bench and that’s it, there is no story.

Everton are still to find a manager, with Unsworth in charge for the last four games. Will there be one by the time the squad returns from the international break?

As well as in England, the Croatian media are unhappy about the situation with Vlasic, who has been settling into the Premier League and to Everton, with the midfielder saying (via Sport Witness):

It was good at the beginning when I came, but the coach changed.

Nikola Vlasic has shown he is capable of fighting for a spot in the Everton team. It all depends on how Unsworth feels about the situation and how the new Everton manager feels about the Croatian.
