Former Everton defender Joseph Yobo has expressed his disappointment regarding exciting winger Henry Onyekuru.
The 22-year-old was signed by the Merseyside club in 2017 but did not receive clearance to play for them in the Premier League.
The Nigerian international was first sent on loan to Belgian side Anderlecht and then loaned to Turkish giants Galatasaray, before being sold permanently to French side AS Monaco this summer.
Yobo feels that he could have made an impact in England. Speaking to Turkish news outlet Aksam, he said:
It is sad he [Onyekuru] couldn’t find a chance to play in Everton.
He is a great talent. His failure to secure a work permit didn’t allow him to play for Everton. The English Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world, but it can be a big disadvantage when you don’t play.
His performance for Galatasaray last season was exceptional but his time in Monaco has not been good and leaving the club is the best option for him.

Onyekuru is struggling in Ligue 1 and he must feel plenty of regret at not getting the opportunity to showcase his talents in England.
His pace and trickery make him a tough opponent to come against and who knows, he could have been a success at Everton.
