Arsenal ‘Keeper: Everton A ‘Great Possibility’

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina says there is a ‘great possibility’ of him joining Everton, as per the report of James Cambridge of the Express.

Reports emerged of manager Roberto Martinez’s interest in the Colombian international earlier this week and it is thought the Martinez and Ospina have held talks.

Martinez believes the 26-year-old is an adequate replacement for the Toffees’ current number one Tim Howard.

Ospina, who starred in last year’s World Cup, has told AS:

“They are a very competitive team, which showed significant things during the last season.

“With a good manager and they play good football, it is a team to take into account and a great possibility.”

These words may encourage Everton to solidify their pursuit with a bid.

With the arrival of Petr Cech, one would think Ospina would have his heart set on a move away from the Emirates Stadium in search of first-team football but this does not seem to be the case.

Instead, the former Nice ‘keeper says he will be happy to play with Cech.

“Now an excellent keeper has arrived who I admire. During my holidays I’m analysing a lot of things and then I’ll have a conversation with the manager.

“For me it will be an honour to play alongside a keeper with that experience. A goalkeeper keeps learning every day.”

Ospina made 15 appearances for Arsenal in his first season in the Premier League.
