According to The Times, Everton are prioritising a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Wilshere has had his issues during his career, mainly with injuries, but since returning to Arsenal’s starting 11 this season, he is being regarded by some as the best English midfielder in the Premier League.
Wilshere’s contract at the Emirates expires at the end of this season, so will be available on a free, and Everton are reportedly willing to offer Wilshere an £8 million sign-on fee.
Wilshere will not be short of options should he leave Arsenal; when fully fit, the England international has the ability to improve most sides in the Premier League.
Everton have also had their eyes on Besiktas man, Oguzhan Ozyakup, who is formerly a youth product of Arsenal, and have been scouting the Turkish midfielder for a while now. It is likely that Allardyce will only go for Ozyakup should an agreement with Wilshere fail to materialise.
Formerly a teammate of Ozyakup, Cenk Tosun may have some part in an attempt to sign the 24-year-old.
Tosun has given Everton some hope of finishing the season on a high recently, after scoring four goals in three games, and has potentially convinced the bosses at Goodison to not worry about signing a first-choice striker for next season.
