Everton are interested in young Nantes midfielder Kamal Bafounta, according to French sources.
The 16-year old Frenchman is currently discussing a new deal with Nantes, but it looks likely that he could end up leaving the club this season for a mere pittance as a trainee, according to L’Equipe last week.
Bafounta has impressed this season, and has scored nine goals from 15 starts for the France Under-17s.
However, the player is said to be interested in leaving, with other clubs around Europe willing to offer him first-team football next season.
According to L’Equipe, Everton currently lead the chase for the young midfielder, and are in talks with the player’s people, while Nantes are keen to secure the long-term future of their talented prospect.
