Everton offered boost in hunt for Ajax star
Everton have been offered a boost in their pursuit of Ajax forward Justin Kluivert, with Roma having switched their attentions to Domenico Berardi.
The Toffees have always seemed like the outside contender to land Kluivert’s signature this summer, with the 19-year old winger destined to leave Ajax for a European switch.
Roma, Barcelona and Manchester United have all been linked with a move, but rumours in recent weeks have suggested that Kluivert has snubbed a move to Barça, while agent Mino Raiola has fallen out with United and so will push his client away from Old Trafford.
Roma would then seem the next logical destination, but according to Tuttosport, the Italian giants favour a move for Sassuolo wide man Berardi.
Once regarded as a future great and one of Italy’s biggest young talents, Berardi has recently endured somewhat of a mixed campaign. However, the 23-year old is still a wanted man, and the Giallorossi want to add him to their ranks as they continue to work to press Juventus for the Scudetto title.
This leaves Everton in prime position to make Kluivert, son of former Barcelona star Patrick Kluivert, a high profile summer signing, especially if Raiola does join Marcel Brands for Everton’s major summer rebuild.
