Everton interested in La Liga full-back

Everton are interested in signing Barcelona defender Lucas Digne, as well as teammate Yerry Mina this summer.

New manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have yet to make their mark on the Everton team they have inherited, but are both said to be desperate to refresh the squad with youth and quality and have been in contact with a number of ambitious targets.

Leading their list of defensive reinforcements is the Catalan club’s defensive duo, who have both struggled for minutes at the Nou Camp.

While the club’s pursuit of Mina has been frequently covered in the media, Digne is a relatively new name thrown in the mix, after Everton walked away from a deal for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.

The 24-year French left-back, who was on France’s stand-by list for the World Cup, is believed to keen on leaving Catalonia this summer, due in part to his limited minutes on the pitch since he moved to Spain.

Barcelona brought him to Spain from Paris Saint-Germain for around €16million in 2016, and after a promising start the Frenchman failed to establish himself as a permanent first-team fixture.

The Telegraph reports that Digne has asked to leave this summer, a request which is likely to be granted, with Everton williing to pay over £10million to sign the defender. Juventus are also believed to be interested.

Mina though, could be more difficult to land, with it not clear whether Barcelona want to sell or loan the 23-year old Colombian, although Everton are keen on securing a deal either way.
