Everton keen to beat Benfica to free agent
Everton are reportedly keen to pip Benfica to the signing of free agent Bernard.
The Toffees are out to add attacking quality to their ranks this summer and according to claims from Premium Sport commentator Andersinho Marques, they are one of three potential destinations for Bernard.

Benfica were reportedly leading the race to sign Bernard this summer but it seems they will face intense opposition from Premier League clubs after their initial proposal to the attacking midfielder was rejected.
For a number of years, Bernard performed at a high level for Shakhtar Donetsk before deciding against renewing his deal at the club this summer.
This means that potential suitors will have the opportunity to try and persuade Bernard to join them on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract in Ukraine.
Everton have not yet signed a player this summer but will be hoping to accelerate their dealings, with the season under a month away.
