Mina is adamant that he is ready to fight for Everton
Everton deadline day signing Yerry Mina is determined to succeed with the Merseyside club.
The 23-year old Colombia international signed earlier today, putting pen to paper on a five-year deal after a £28.5million fee was agreed between the Toffees and Barcelona.
Everton have been in talks with the La Liga outfit for some time now, with the will he/won’t he saga raging on throughout the summer.
Having fended off interest from Manchester United and Lyon, Everton are delighted to finally bring their principle defensive target to the club, and the player is excited to get started.
Talking to evertontv, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, Mina said:
It is important that the club want to fight for something. This is why I am here.
I have watched the Premier League for a long time. It is the best league in the world. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.
I know about Everton’s players and I look forward to being able to play with my new team. I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful. I am also determined to do my best for Everton.
The Colombia international had an excellent World Cup campaign, scoring three times over the course of the tournament, including the equaliser against England.
Despite having an extended summer of football however, Mina is adamant he is ready to come straight into Everton’s team. He continued:
I worked hard during my holiday and now I am ready to play and do important things with the Club. I am ready to train and work.
I spoke to Lucas [Digne] and he told me all about the Club, which also made me keen to come here.
