Cuco Martina set for Stoke loan move
Cuco Martina could be on his way to Stoke on loan, according to a report from Football Insider.
The defender arrived at Goodison Park just last summer, signing for free following his release from Southampton.
Linking up with old boss Ronald Koeman, his mentor was sacked part-way through the Premier League season and replaced with Sam Allardyce.
Despite the managerial turbulence, the 28-year-old still made 27 appearances for the Toffees in all competitions.
The right-back is not included in new manager Marco Silva’s plans, and has reportedly been training away from the first-team at Everton’s training ground.
With other right-sided defensive options Seamus Coleman and Mason Holgate, Martina would be the third-string option at the position.
A number of Championship clubs have supposedly been vying for Martina’s services, but Football Insider claim it is Stoke who lead the charge to land the Curacao international.
Potters’ manager Gary Rowett has been eager to add to his defensive options, and Martina would bring a wealth of top-flight experience to the Midlands.
