Everton draw Rotherham United in EFL Cup
Everton will begin their EFL Cup campaign with a home tie against Rotherham United later this month, as revealed by the cup draw earlier today.
The Toffees will enter the Carabao sponsored tournament in the second round, and will take on the newly promoted Championship side.
Everton will host the fixture at Goodison Park on August 27, two days after facing Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium.
Changes to the competitions rules this year mean that the Blues won’t have to play extra-time, should they failed to win within regulation time.
The changes mean the club would instead head straight to penalties, the idea of which has been concocted to reduce fatigue.
Last season the Blues were knocked out by Chelsea in the fourth-round while under the stewardship of David Unsworth, losing 2-1.
