Marco Silva has reacted to Nikola Vlašić’s comments about his Everton future earlier this week, saying he will have to wait and “see what happens.”

Silva also added that it was also the 21-year old’s decision to leave the club on loan instead of stay and fight for his place.

The Croatia international, who is currently on loan with Russia side CSKA Moscow, claimed earlier this week that his days on Merseyside looked numbered, particularly because Everton’s recent signing history likely meant they would look for superstars rather than trust young talent.

Vlašić claimed he expected Everton to accept the first offer they receive next summer.

However, Silva claims that Vlašić’s loan was meant to get him first-team minutes so that he could better challenge for a first-team spot next season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Silva said:

When we took the decision it was for him to go and play and return ready to play and fight. It was his decision also. Let’s see what happens in the future.
