Everton are still thought to be interested in Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias – so should the Toffees now make the Spaniard their top target?

According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, cited by the Daily Post, Everton have been trying to sign the forward for the past six months, with Premier League rivals West Ham also keen on the player.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed two free-scoring seasons in Spain with Real Zaragoza and current club Espanyol, with Iglesias scoring 20 times in all competitions last season.

Iglesias played a key role in helping Espanyol to a 7th place finish in La Liga, earning Europa League qualification in the process.

Everton are thought to be in the market for a new striker this summer, with Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both struggling to find the back of the net over the past 12 months.

Iglesias has proven he can do that on a consistent basis and appears to have all the qualities needed to succeed in England.

The Spaniard is known for his pace, agility and natural goalscoring ability, with the striker making regular clever runs in behind the defence.

A specialist No.9, Iglesias is an out-and-out centre-forward and could be the perfect fit in Marco Silva’s system next season, so Everton should consider making the player one of their top targets for the remainder of the window.
